Hi
What's the best size of tubular tyres for my Zipp 404 front and Zipp Super9 Disc rear, I've heard 25mm is the best for the rim width.
Also, which tyre is the best recommended? Looking at Conti Podium TT or Competition tyres.
Cheers

i think zipp say to match width for minimum drag
after that, for tt minimum rolling resistance, scroll down this page for table...

bear in mind the lowest crr tyres will have less puncture resistance than tougher onesmy bike - faster than god's and twice as shiny0 -
Silca did a big test on tyre width vs rim width, generating the 105% idea: https://silca.cc/blogs/journal/part-5-t ... rodynamics
404 are around 26.4mm wide, so a 25mm tyre would match well.
I've got 25mm Corsa Elites on my 303s which are also 26.4mm wide.Colnago Master Olympic

that's a 2007 article, for current rims, zipp says...Firecrest wheels with wider tire beds
The best aero and lowest rolling resistance is obtained with front 23mm and rear 25mm width tires running at the recommended tire pressures.my bike - faster than god's and twice as shiny0 -

depends what is 'good' for you
cons: they're not especially low crr and they ride like hosepipes
pro: they're tougher than tyres with lower crr/better ride, they also have good wet gripmy bike - faster than god's and twice as shiny0 -

It's a very recent change though Isn't it?
But if anything it backs up my hunch that the whole 25mm is faster thing is a big con. Wheel manufacturers having to change rim designs to back up the claims."You really think you can burn off sugar with exercise?" downhill paul0 -
If using as dedicated TT wheels and you aren't riding out to events, go for Veloflex (ideally Record) or Vittoria (new Corsa Speed are meant to be good but pricey). Challenge Crono is also a good cheap choice.0
