    Last I heard the tie was heading for a deciding rubber. What a way to lose for your team!

    Lad is only 17. Ball could have gone anywhere else and he maybe gets penalised a point.

    Looks like he was going to lose the match anyway. Hitting a ball boy/girl would have been worse.

    Tim Henman did that in a doubles match at Wimbledon (I think). And then there was the Queens final where a player managed to give a linesman a bloody shin by kicking the advertising board on his chair - probably the clearest case of for a disqualification I've seen. He still got defended by his fan on social media though!

    A hard lesson for a young player, especially we representing his country rather than playing for himself.

    Saw it live ... yes stupid and reckless and irresponsible. But what were the odds of actually hitting the umpire in the eye??
