  • Which tunnel? There are many tunnels on the Ma-10 !

At base of Col de Sa Gramola. The only other 2 tunnels I know of are at the top of Puig Major.
I never did the descent, unless you count driving down!

You went down Sa Calobra with your bike in the boot of the car...?!

If you get a chance to ride the coast road up from Andratx to Soller, take it, it's one of the best rides on the island.

Smooth, winding roads, plenty of climbing, and constant views out to sea from a high vantage point.

    Banyalbufar and Deia are highlights.
we were looking at doing this in May while we're there, trouble is the cycle bus doesn't leave Pollenca till 8am, a bit too late in the day for that journey back - probably, looks a great ride tho'!

I thought the bus was designed for that cycle trip back? If you start cycling by 9am from Andratx, you should be fine.

That photo / tunnel is at the bottom of Col de Sa Gramola, the first big climb after Andratx, so that would block you off. There is no alternative road. But I'm sure they'll have it fixed by May.....won't they?!
could be more than one bus?, the one we looked to book leaves pollenca 8am
www.mallorcacycleshuttle.com, might be just as cheap to get a minibus taxi for the 4 of us?
All lies and jest..still a man hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest....

That's the one I know of, it's good, well run.

Could work with a taxi - they seem to use extended VW Caddies quite a bit, that can take wheelchairs, you could ask about that. Probably worth a bit extra to be able to go exactly where and when you want. But it's quite a long way, (mostly motorway) basically from one extreme of the island to the other.

Well worth doing though, get the weather right and you won't regret it.

haha! Yes I did. A hire bike with no insurance ;). I wasn't bothered about that, I was more concerned about how long it was and how the hell I'd manage climbing back all this way! Of course, it was fine :)
  • April is a good time, was there a couple years ago and apart from being caught in the mother of all hail storms was good riding. For Sa Colabra just get out early to minimise the risk of coaches, not to bad in April but was a very early start when I was there in July last year.

Have used this site for inspiration http://mallorcacycling.co.uk another option if you are on your own is group rides that go out from the pro cycle cafe twice a week and also Tolos restaurant. I've done then with the cafe lot open to all leave about 9, not sure about Tolos.

I'm back in PP in July again, think I need to do Puig from Soller this time. Went down it last year great fun.

I rode down it in 2013, been trying to arrange to get back to ride up it again but despite two visits since then no luck and this years trip isn't looking good either.
