Hello from a new member! Keen to get back into some off road riding again having had a previous bike stolen a few years ago.
I have a budget of £700 max, and have tried and really liked the Voodoo Bizango. However, with cycle schemes at work, I could wait out and consider a Specialized Rockhopper Expert. What are people's thought about the choices? I like the idea of a 29er and am aware of the 'awards' the Voodoo has won over the years. I'm not fussed about a remote lockout as it seems just more cables to get in the way, but are the specs worth it otherwise?

Thanks in advance for any guidance!

Hi, I have the Voodoo Bizango, its a great bike for the money, and feels fantastic as soon as you climb on, the 29" wheels smooth out the trail (especially after years of 26") I was lucky enought to grab one in Jan for £500 (now £625) so you could try and make Halfords an offer? my wife has the Boardman comp 27.5", and again this is a great spec bike for the cash, and a nice bike to ride.

Both the Bizango and the Comp (even if you have to pay full price) will still allow you to get some nice upgrades without increasing your budget by much?

I upgrade as my budget allows: Crank Bros 5050-3 peddles (fitted as soon as i picked the bike up) Fabric Scoop Radius Elite saddle and Race Face Half Nelson grips.

  • My advice to you is following: If u have tried and you really liked the Voodoo Bizango, and it is within your budget,so why not?In my opinion, everyone should listen to his first feeling, and I am pretty sure that choosing a bike is not exclusion.Furthermore, for quantity of money you have it is not easy to find better one.If you aren't going to become the pro,it is a good option for you. Also don't forget about yours safety, you should think of buying a helmet.Recently I have come across a quite good review here http://bestadviser.net/features/properly-chosen-helmet-halfway-to-a-safe-ride/ .Good luck and have fun!
