Garmin incident detection on 520

So I got the Garmin Edge 520, and of course I had to turn every feature on that I could find. The incident detection didnt go too well, I was commuting to work and it went off twice for no real reason. Does anyone else find it overly sensitive? There was a very strong cross wind this morning so im not sure if that was enough to give the unit a little jerk.

If its an ongoing problem, Ill just turn it off until I'm going on a longer run.

    Incidents.

Such as letting you know you've just been hit by a bus or something.

    I suppose.

You can set up so it warns your relatives that you have been run over by a bus and the location it occurred (I assume)

We used to have a similar system at my old company on the work blackberries. Someone dropped their phone on the floor of a taxi in India or somewhere and the security company we were using rushed to their aid - not very convenient, big waste of money!
  • DCRainmaker complained about the sensitivity when incident detection was first released on the older devices, I guess things haven't changed since.
  • Yeah, the device has an accelerometer built in to it, so if it senses movement that may be deemed to be an accident, it sends a message to up to 3 people o my emergency list, with a location. Unfortunatly its very sensitive.

Or maybe my aluminium frame has more road buzz than I thought?

Surely it should be smart enough to realise that if you're still moving after the bump - then you're not deaded ?

Mine detected an "incident" when I put my bottle into the cage

Turned that feature off straight away after

    Nope

Wasn't even out on the bike yet. It was leaning against the wall in my hallway
  • Maybe it detected that some of the water had dripped on your bike.
