I'm trying to decide between these two trainers, but not quite sure about the differences if any.

Is the Tacx booster worth the extra £42?

  • No because they are both awful. This is what you want http://www.halfords.com/cycling/turbo-t ... bo-trainer

    What do you mean 'awful'?

If you are buying an indoor trainer my advice is go with a smart trainer as it means you can link in with zwift/bkool and feel the resistance automatically.

Its not essential but adds so muchmore to a indoor workout feeling the resistance change due to drafting, up/down hill

I have the bkool smart trainer and highly recomend this.

Manually controlled resistance, and no data link whatsoever. They are cassette players in an iPod age, surprised they sell them at all.

At the very least there's this http://www.halfords.com/cycling/turbo-t ... bo-trainer which doesn't have auto control resistance but at least will link up via ANT+ & Bluetooth.

100% go for a smart trainer. It makes something that used to be torturous into to something quite fun.
    Giant TCR
    Giant TCX
  • Thanks for the input. I appreciate that having the extra features can be more fun, but I'm really not bothered about it.

After reading some reviews - The Booster seems to be a direct upgrade to the Satori which seemed very popular.

However, there's also a *Smart* Satori, and now I'm kind of tempted. :?

^^ 100% this. Better than the Satori Smart as it will adjust resistance automatically and can be used via Bluetooth on iPad etc.
  • Quite, buying something which doesn't connect up and costs a lot but is manual controlled is certifiably mad.

I've just brought the Tacx T2240 Flow Smart from Halfords.... Having previously used a dumb trainer with speed and cadence sensor the difference is night and day when using Zwift. When in workout mode in Zwift, the ERG mode will automatically adjust the resistance to ensure he hit the required watts based.

As one of the other Which trainer threads stated.. stop thinking and just go out and buy ( as smart Trainer). :D
