Hi
Have just bought A Genesis Core 10 frame- has 1 1/8" straight steerer and would like to know what front mech it requires? Also the gear cables seem to run under the down tube but without outer cable covering them- should there be some kind of protection over them to stop the cable fraying or damaging the bottom bracket shell?
Thanks for any info on this.

Presumably a bottom pull in whatever size the downtube is. No idea whether top or bottom swing though.
There should be a plastic guide under the BB shell for the cables.I don't do smileys.

Its common to have exposed inner cables from the cable stop at the top of the downtube to the under BB shell plastic guide, as the cable isnt touching anything there is no reason for it to wear. I had that layout on my old HT for 4 years without issue.
A cable only frays from the end.Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0 -
Have a look on the Genesis website for details.
The latest Core 10 has a top pull front mech, but it looks like older models had bottom pull.
There is an archive so you can look up your frame, depending on the year it was produced.“Life has been unfaithful
