Buying a new left crank...quick question
I just have a quick question. Will any left crank fit as long as its 175mm like mine and same bolt input (diamond shape)?
As I don't want to buy a new chainset like I was recommend by LBS. My chainset is brand new, all I need is left crank which I found relatively cheap 175mm.

More info is needed. What model of crank do you have ? and a link to the crank arm your about to buy would help.
Edit: Which bike did buy ?0 -
the crank is FSA Vero, 50/340

Which model? They do a Claris, Sora and a 105 version

FWIW given the issues that you've had, I would get a bike shop to fit it.
I would also fit the original Shimano part, you've spent good money on a nice bike, why put a cheapo part on just to save a couple of quid?GET WHEEZY - WALNUT LUNG RACING TEAM™0 -
its a claris and yes I saw shimano left crank its 175mm but don't know if it will fit0

Do you know how to get the crank off ? Then you can check what it looks like ?0

The rest of the Groupset is Claris but the chainset is the aforementioned FSA Vero, so a Shimano arm will look a bit odd or won't fit.
(The 50/34 bit refers to the size of the chainrings)
You just need a left crank arm the same length as the original, JIS square taper.
Don't pay a fortune for one though, you can get a whole new FSA Vero compact chainset for £47 from Chain Reaction...
And while you're shopping, buy a pedal spanner!0 -
You need to clarify exactly what chainset you have. You are giving conflicting info. The specs of the 2016 synapse say it's an FSA Vero chainset. But your bike also comes with Claris gearing which could be causing some confusion.
Does your crank arm say Shimano Claris on the side like the picture above ?
Either way its a 'square tapered' type crank and is only compatible with square tapered arms. Not sure different brands can be mixed and matched. Somebody else will need to chime in.0 -

I found some hopefully it will fit, I was recommended by tredz. Don't know which one is more durable.

Durability shouldn't really be an issue here. A crank breaking is very rare indeed. Just don't cock the thread up again.0

Beware of buying random crank arms. The squares on some are 90 degrees to others, so some won't work. I think FSA and Shimano are incompatible, but not sure and can't be bothered to play Google.I don't do smileys.

45 degrees perhaps?
It's an old age thing I'm told!Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0 -
Yeah, that's the one. Like a V shaped shape, not an L shaped shape.
ps It's same thing, not think. Perhaps an old age thing?
Carry on.I don't do smileys.
