As someone on another thread said, no point in getting carbon clinchers for cyclocross. Only worth considering if you're going the whole hog and switching to tubs.

How did you destroy your Aksiums? If it was anything other than rim wear, you probably want something a bit more robust; one option would be something like Mavic Open Pros, or one of the more modern equivalents, on Novatec hubs.
    Pannier, 120rpm.
  • crashed on first corner at last weeks race somebody rode over it!!! LBS says "its fucked mate" 3 spokes plus rim bent out of recoverable shape. it would just about spin between the fork blades so finished the race.
could just replace like for like but have the opportunity to upgrade bare in mind the bike is my commuter and winter/crap weather trainer and typically gets 5-7k miles a year on it plus CX

    Ouch!

My first inclination would still be to go with the hand-built option, but I may be biased because I generally build my own wheels anyway. If you shop around for the bits you can get very good value; I recently put together a set of road wheels for my daughter that came out 450g lighter than a set of Aksiums, at almost the same cost.

If you'd prefer off-the-shelf, there have been quite a few good suggestions in various "what wheel" threads over the last couple of months.
    Pannier, 120rpm.
  • Stans rims on novatec hubs, built by any of the various wheel people around (strada, spokesman etc) seems best value way to go.
  • anyone use these? https://www.cycledivision.co.uk/cero-cr ... elset-7507
    what do you think?

    These Pro-Build ones

Just picked up a pair for my wife new CX bike and I'm impressed. Especially at that price! Light, and the all black rims are lovely.

I have literally just bought a pair of these.

Clad in racing ralphs + inner tube and a 160mm floating rota the front comes in at 1.35kg ... not too shabby. I forgot to weigh the rear but it again feels about the same difference in lightness from its replacement.

They shift, seem to handle the off road sections fine and accelerate great when you come off the mud and hit the tarmac. tubeless ready as well
  • Got the CERO ARD22 arrived next day super light super impressed with the quality roll very nice and 285 quid can't complain plus free folding conti grand sports and adapters for through axel uses sapim cx ray spokes and you get 3 spare and tubeless ready
