2 sets all. Momentum in Wawrinka's favour.

The only way Venus will win is if Serena lets her. Bit of a non event.

    And he's done it!

If Nadal makes it, he'll be the baby of the bunch.

Hope he loses, his teeth seem too small for his head. I hate people whos teeth seem too small for their heads.

This is entirely appropriate for Melbourne. It is BTW the more 'modern' of the Australian cities and for goodness sake don't tell the New Zealanders where it is permanently 1955.

Nadal v Dimitrov. Can't see Nadal losing this one.

He's doing his best to find a way to do just that.

Nadal takes the 3rd set tie break. 2-1 Nadal.

    Set # 5 coming up.

I like Nadal, but after this display, I want Grigor to win. He's class.

    Oldies?
Rafa is only 1 year older than Andy.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

The baby of the bunch. I remember Agassi being written off by pundits when he reached 30. It's also easy to forget how young Nadal was when he started biting Federer's heels.

In fairness, when he was 30 there weren't many good players around, it was a bit before Fed and after Samprass, the slam finals he won after 30 were against Arnaud Clément and Rainer Schüttler, not exactly household names.

There's been a lot of chat around the Ozzie courts being very fast, and there has generally been a slow down of the courts too over the past 5 years (Wimbledon especially), so I wonder if that has something to do with it?

The WIlliams sisters are pure power players (especially Serena), so that development would have suited them, and Federer is one of the most attacking of the big men's players, coming up to the net a lot more often etc etc, which again, suits a faster surface (hence his record at Wimbledon).

The outlier in that argument is Nadal, who's best on slow surfaces.

Amazing to see these two going at it in a final once more.

If you look at the post match stats, Federer was more aggressive on all fronts vs Nadal.

Lower 1st serve percentage, 5x number of aces.

    3x number of winners

    2x number of unforced errors.

Partly how you play vs Nadal - the longer the rally the lower your chances, but still.

That's how federer plays, he's an offensive player.

Two legends. A privilege to watch that.
