RS505 Disc Brakes Clicking

Hi - I have shimano rs 505 road disc brakes and I have a click noise coming from the rear caliper when the bike is idle. I bled the brakes and it's come back. Any ideas?

What do you mean by "idle"? When you are freewheeling or when the bike is just sitting there (like a radiator cooling down)?Rose Xeon CDX 3100, Ultegra Di2 disc (nice weather)

Thanks for you message. It clicks or ticks after my ride/when the bike is not moving at all. The bike is kept away from a radiator.0

When you get back from your next ride carefully feel the caliper for heat. If it is warm to the touch i would say that is OK, if it is hot, I would say the pads are dragging for some reason. As you have bled them my next action would be to remove the pad axle (the pin that holds the pads after first removing the little retaining clip on the back). Then pull out the pads and spring and give them a good clean. Clean out any dust from where the pads fit in the caliper. Check the pad axle for damage (nicks, rust, etc). Make sure the spring is not deformed and then reassemble.Rose Xeon CDX 3100, Ultegra Di2 disc (nice weather)

Thanks for the advice. I've just come home from work and the break is still clicking around 30 hours after my last ride. It is most odd.0

If the brakes are dragging they can get extremely hot. As they cool they contract against the mounting bolts (alloy vs steel) which causes the ticking. I've had it happen on motorcycles (not the dragging but very hot brakes due to rapid stops).Rose Xeon CDX 3100, Ultegra Di2 disc (nice weather)

Agreed not for 30 hours, but the OP did say it happened after his ride which I took to mean straight after his ride not a day later. Anyhow, the answer to the problem is to leave the bike somewhere out of earshot :PRose Xeon CDX 3100, Ultegra Di2 disc (nice weather)

Hi all, thanks for your comments. I have found out tonigh that the tick is actually coming from the tyre and not the brake. Sorry for the confusion!
