Short/ Medium Rear Mech'

So I invested in a new winter/ commute/ wet weather bike on the Cyclescheme thru work.
More than happy with the bike, but....it came with 50/34 x 11/32 nonsense gears with a 105 5800 medium rear mech.
Ideally, I want to put a 12-25 cassette on to do away with the unnecessary mountain bike-esque ratio's, but more importantly,to get rid of the two-tooth jumps on the business end of the cassette.
Will a change to a 12-25 cassette still be ok with the med cage mech, or do I needs to swap that to a short cage?

It'll be fine with a medium cage mech.0

Although the Shimano spec sheet states the min. low sprocket for the GS 105 RD is 28T, I'd try the 12-25T cassette and see how it works out, you may need to shorten the chain a tad.0

Yep, chain length I'm assuming might need a link taking out.
Guess I'll swap the cassette out and see how it behaves...0
