Plant X and their build it yourself deals. What are your thoughts?

Is it a clever way to get a deal, planet x skip the need to supply bells, reflectors and mechanics and pass on the savings?

Or is it a sign of something like inability to order enough gear cables, have enough mechanics, or warranty the build?

Thoughts?

I would guess they're just trying to move stock quickly to get some cash back in the business, but not being particularly business minded I have no real idea...

    Not because of Brexit.

With huge amount of competition they just not cutting it. Every crisis it flush out the stagnant business that should be shut down or flushed.

But getting away from the point.

Any reason why you have to choose a Planet X bike? So many sales on atm.

I say if they can get you a bike for x % off just because you have to put a few more bits on yourself then its a good thing. They still get a sale and as the customer you get a great deal on a decent bike plus the chance to get spend a day in the workshop - Even if people are not particularly confident mechanics the stuff you have to do is fairly basic and will allow them to get more experience.

I think every serious cyclist (by that I mean someone who rides at least 2 or 3 times a week) should know how to index gears / fit cables / grease BB etc.
