Hello all

Hoping that someone can help with this. I am struggling to understand which Wheels Manufacturing bottom bracket I need.

Frame is a 2015 R3 and I have got a Rotor 3D+ crank with 30 MM. spindle.

Can someone advise which BB is compatible?

Many thanks

  • Not sure why you are looking a those unless you want to convert press fit bbright to shimano 24mm?
I have a cervelo r3 with rotor 3D crank and I use Rotor PF46 bottom bracket, CRC sell them as well as others.
Got a place in the Pyrenees.
    Do bike and ski stuff.

If you're looking for ceramic I'm running a Cbear in my R5 which I'm really pleased with.

    Standard PF30. http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/sram ... -prod51600

The last one listed is the "correct" one for your frame; in the others the plastic sleeve that sits between the bearings will be too short; but then I've never used it (it's worth having if you have internally routed Di2, though). You can spend more on hybrid ceramic, or full ceramic, BBs but I wouldn't bother.

You'll need some kind of BB30 press to get the new BB in, and a BB30 extractor to get the old bearings out. I use these:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Cyclo-Bb30-Bea ... =bb30+tool - it's streets ahead of the Park item that needs bashing with a mallet.

http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/x-to ... -prod10225 - but plenty of people just make up a ghetto tool with threaded bar, nuts, big washers and the old bearings.

You can use the Rotor from manoirdelourde's post, but it's twice the price of the SRAM item. Doubt the bearings are anything special.

Thanks - what is your experience of the Rotor BB? Has it been ok?

Yes I have been looking at the C-Bear ones - can I ask where you bought it from as struggling to find UK stockists of them.

Thanks for the info - will have a look through all these.

    To be honest as 964Cup says I don't think they are anything special . . . I did try a cheaper alternative once but it didn't last a year . . .

Direct from cbear, email them and they post to you. Takes 2 days from ordering, they are very helpful and responsive on questions as well.

Yes, it's reported by some users that it's okay, but not that much as it should be. A few cheaper versions do identical performance.

I've owned a Cervelo R5 for 12 months. Noticed some play in the crank last week. Took it into Swift Cycles in London who are a Cervelo stockist. Turns out that a seal on the left Rotor BB cup had failed and the left bearing had completely rusted, causing the bearing race to fuse to the crank spindle. So based on my sample size of 1, Rotor was not great.

When the shop reinstalled the crankset, they used SRAM BB30.
