National Championships 2017 *spoiler*
Australia
Miles Scotson's first week as a pro. And brother Callum won U23 TT earlier in the week (again).

Very good finale.
Canondale rider thought he'd won at the bell, then Scotson very impressive from back of group in last 2km
Good call by the aus commentator too.0 -
Think that's Keenan doing the commentary. He generally knows his stuff, or it may seem so next to Liggett.
3 years straight greenedge/orica failed to win the nationals. Probably should look beyond Gerrans. Mark O'Brien finished in tenth. Should be his final race unless in emergency rides as he becomes manager of the Drapac developmental team. Norris and he were not dissimilar back in 2012.
Joe Cooper won the New Zealand title. Trackie Regan Gough won the u23. Torckler, probably the most unlucky cyclist in NZ, finished ninth. He had a serious knee injury when he was a big climbing talent around 2010, and then a hit & run accident which nearly killed him when he finally got a gig in the US in 2012.0 -

Good victory - there's an interview with him on there where he talks about not having very much training load in his legs for this, so he sounds like one to watch!0

Random question - who is the guy in the lead group who is in plain black kit, and why isn't he in a team kit?0 -
Nathan Earle. Just announced last week that he's joined Japanese continental team Ukyo. Would be a safe assumption that he doesn't have the kit from them yet.0

I don't see why not. The UCI allow the odd pan flat course, i.e. Doha, Copenhagen, so why not have a proper climbers course for once.0 -

I'm going to have serious words with my man at the UCI...0 -
Not been mentioned here yet but Sergio Henao won the Colombian national champs. Gaviria took a tumble and hurt his shoulder.

Sergio Luis slid out on a corner himself at some point in the race - you can see his ripped left shoulder sleeve0
