try emailing bont, they do custom colour schemes so unless it's a 'secret' would be able to say what dye they use,
though dyeing some materials involves complex and/or hazardous processes, diy may be impractical

different materials need different dyes, unless you're willing to accept the risk of the result being a complete mess i'd really try to find the correct dye

paint is simpler, not sure if durolite is breathable but if it is paint will ruin that aspect, and it'll be more susceptible to damage, vinyl paint or a tough resin airbrush paint might be good options

They will tell you not to and that it will void the warranty, among other terrible things that will happen according to the H&S manual

Personally I think it's a waste of time, unless you are a real artist and can do something truly amazing. In that case, I suppose you would just go ahead with the job rather than ask on a forum...

So, on balance, don't bother... the result will probably be painfully disappointing

Spoilsport. I was going to ask for photos.

Some folks have made great efforts with Doc Marten boots.

Plain black leather with no features and a decent surface area makes a decent enough canvas...

then you have to consider the creativity of your average cyclist, yes, the guy with a black stealth bike... basically never moved from the days of Knight rider

If you want to see something truly ugly, look no furter than the average paint job on a bike frame... being the owner of a Ridley frame, I know what ugly means!
