Wondered if anyone might share their views on one of these for the missus please? Agree neither are mega spec, but then neither is the price and its only for her to go on light trails / bumpy local tracks etc?

Appreciate the Trott is a bit of a bargain, but is the Carrera that bad (ideally trying to get sub £400 where possible so thoughts welcome!

Thanks

Is the Carrera that bad, no.

in fact for that price its a good solid bike, the latest XCR fork is based on the Raidon but that looks like it may be the older XCM derived fork which is a bit noodly at 120mm travel.

But the Trott is massively better, better fork (and air), better drivetrain (including a larger axle crankset) and circa 1Kg at least (probably nearer 2Kg) lighter. Use topcashback and BC membership and you'll get it to £400!

Thanks Rookie - exactly the advice I was looking for...though if I get the Trott I am slightly jealous of the missus' 1x11 compared to my 2x10 and that can't be right

So buy the Trott and swap the drivetrains, she'll never notice - honest!

  • I suspect the Trott MTB is still the better buy with that Raidon fork, but you could could buy the 15" Trott hybrid for £375 today on Ebay, using the today only 10% discount code for sporting goods.

Sadly no sign of the Trott MTB on Ebay. :(

Thanks all, missus now has confirmed case of the Trotts. A cracking piece of kit, the fork is the new one with a thru axle so tempted to swap chain sets and fork to my budget looking Boardman comp!

    Like button needed.

In fact I reckon you could make decent money buying the Trotts and stripping them to sell as new parts.
