What is needed to use all the Tacx software?

Having downloaded a few films from the app store onto my iPad 2 I then became aware the ipad is not supported, no problem, lesson learned.

Whilst I'm using Zwift OK from the laptop, I would like to make use of everything the Tacx software can give me so thinking of buying a newer tablet. Tacx state "ipad 3 or higher" on their website, does this mean that the ipad mini won't work? How about the Ipad air does that work?

With myself and partner already having iphones it makes sense to stay with apple but I'm not ruling out an android tablet as it's main purpose will be for my turbo training. Recommendations for android tablets welcome.

Thanks

  • I thought the Tacx Training Software (TTS4) was Windows only anyway?

As usual I think you are right there. But I'm still interested in these features:

"Ride sections of legendary race stages, classic cycle races and other existing races and check your position compared with your opponents, or upload GPS data and relive the rides you made on your holidays. Afterwards you can analyse the training session in the Tacx Cloud or upload it in training software like Strava and TrainingPeaks."

"The distance in the Tacx Films for the Cycling app is around 30 km. They are beautiful rides or sections or existing races. The trainer simulates the road, while your cycling pace influences the speed of the film. The films are available as in-app purchases."

"The Cycling app stores your performance so you can analyse it afterwards. Your performance is displayed in a graph, where power output, cadence and speed are plotted against time or distance. Link the app to the Cloud so you can store it as an activity."

"Start a workout based on gradient, power or heart rate, and adjust it during your training session or create a complete training session in advance in the cloud."
  • I've relived some of my Mallorca holiday rides because Tacx has done films of them.

I run the Tacx app on iPad 4 and iPad Air 2 and it works fine on Bluetooth connection. I have only tried the demo video rides that come with it and again they work fine. Zwift won't work on the iPad 4 but works fine on the iPad Air 2.
There are loads of free workouts to download from Tacx and the create workout part is a good tool in the app.

Thanks for this, I'll avoid the ipad 4.

I ran the Tacx IOS software on an iPad mini though I don't remember which it was (my daughter has it now). I'm running it fine on the iPad Pro

It should work fine, this is the one I use most of the time also the graphics on Zwift run nice and smoothly on iPad Air 2 IME.
