When it records in normal VIDEO mode, it saves the footage in 12 minute sections?
Is this correct... and you cannot alter this?

I think its unmanageably big otherwise ? Not that I've read much of the manual though...

Checked on DCRain his picture of the files shows 12 minutes ones. Just thought I'd double check...

    Yep always 12 minute segments.

Each 12 minutes is a massive file.

Cheers for clarifying. As you can tell, new toy for 2017.

I find the gopro editing suite to be incredibly clunky. I load and edit on youtube now if I want to do basic stuff.

That seemed to be as convoluted as any of the editing software... I wanted to try out the Garmin editing suite as you (so told) add a dashboard to it... but it crashed/didnt work under my Windows10

I use windows movie maker, it's still slow as a slow thing but better than most on my crappy computer.

The garmin one does work pretty well too, and it'll happily overlay the Garmin data on top of the GoPro footage.

How olds your PC/Laptop, and what version of windows - x86 or 64bit? I have this problem on an old laptop & PC with an old graphics card in that doesn't meet Direct x9 compatability, so all hardware acceleration is disabled, which lots of video editing SW can't handle.

i'm using a 2012 mac mini atm and its fine full screen HD, no issues at all other than the software being lame to start with

I'm assuming with macos rather than bootcamped to windows?

Since "upgrading" to win 10 on a bunch of older PC's I've lost a load of HW acceleration of tasks, which is very annoying.

i avoid windows unless totally necessary which is not that often, thankfully

macos Sierra with a lot of memory but a fairly low spec video due to its age, just goes to show you what a mess MS has made of windows

Sad to say Garmin Virb video app seems to be working now... using the Gopro footage but with the 'dashware' of my stupendous hill climbing speed and power ness/less
