When I odont ride for a while my back is not too bad.
After just a couple of rides in a week it starts to hurt again.
I do exercises etc to help but could it be a bad cycling position.
Any advice and similar sufferers opinions welcome

I suffer with 3 degenerative discs in a row , lower back. The inky time my back hurts is with continued hard efforts, usually hills. Having said that, I trained with a mate for a trip to the Alps and went through some pain doing so. Had to stop a coupe of times to straighten up and poo a couple of paracetamol and ibuprofen. The longer rides and efforts were needed, I felt it mostly my lower right QL. Ei only had it come once on the trip, asked the lads for a mini stop and then stormed on.

Getting your set up correct would be essential anyway, have you had any sort of bike fit?

How many miles are you doing?
Could it be your body is not used to cycling?
What does your physio/GP say about it? My consultant said that the low impact of cycling would be good exercise.

Hopefully you'll get it sorted so that you can continue and build up some pain free miles. I know when I started I couldn't understand how it was so hard and painful. I was literally fighting fit but was struggling to keep up with the old girls in the lower club groups... It took a few ( humbling) months to settle into it, learned quite a bit about nutrition, preparation, set up etc, mostly the hard way.

    Cheers for that.
Cycled and time trialled to a good club level until a couple of years ago, back has always been bad but can't get to a higher level without it packing in.
Do about 40 mile a week in winter and 60 to 100 in summer.
    Mostly balls out training.
Like my time trials and road race training.
