To qualify it must be 7.5 minutes long or greater.
I'll start.
Stargazer by Rainbow. In my opinion it's epic.

Always be yourself, unless you can be Aaron Rodgers....Then always be Aaron Rodgers.

If I play 'Legs' by ZZ Top twice that would be long enough. But its more about the video really"I spent most of my money on birds, booze and fast cars: the rest of it I just squandered." [George Best]0
-
Oh Well Pts 1&2 by Fleetwood Mac or I Heard It Through The Grapevine by CCREcrasez l’infame0
-
Another one..
Kashmir by Led ZepAlways be yourself, unless you can be Aaron Rodgers....Then always be Aaron Rodgers.0 -
Shine On You Crazy Diamond, by da Floyd.
Whether it can be deemed 'rock', maybe maybes not, but has it all.0 -
The Prophets Song - Queen
Off the 'A Night At The Opera' album, if you've never heard it check it out, it's properly epic!0 -

Are you sure that's a tea break and not another kind of break?
I'd go with Telegraph Road by Dire Straits."I spent most of my money on birds, booze and fast cars: the rest of it I just squandered." [George Best]0 -
Safesurfer by Julian Cope
Down in the Sewer by the Stranglers0 -
Won't get fooled again, the who0
-
Not really my genre but if we are going for epic rock songs then I'd probably choose Bat Out of Hell or Freebird[Castle Donington Ladies FC - going up in '22]0
-
Blinded by the Light by Manfred Mann's Earthband (the long version).0

Two that pop immediately into mind are Sinnerman by Nina Simone or Master of Puppets by Metallica. Bit of a contrast there I suppose.0
-
Child In Time - Deep Purple. The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.Veronese68 wrote:PB is the most sensible person on here.0 -
In addition to most of the already made suggestions:
Starless - King Crimson
Cinema Show - Genesis
It's gonna be a beautiful night - Prince
As - Stevie wonder
Walk on By - Isaac Hayes
First breath after coma - Explosions in the Sky
A sailors life - Fairport Convention0 -
Full Metal Jackoff - Jello Biafra with DOA (the best thing in the world, ever)0
-
Would depend on what mood I an in really
Metallica - Orion
Neil Young - Like A hurricane
Black Sabbath - War Pigs
Madseason - Wake Up
Sisters Of Mercy - Lucretia My Reflection
Metallica - The Four Horsemen
Pink Floyd - Sorrow
these are not rock but I really like them all the same
Chemical Brothers - Out Of Control
DJ Krush/DJ Shadow - Duality
to much great music to pick only one0 -
Are Kraftwerk allowed? If so, Trans Euro Express"It must be true, it's on the internet" - Winston Churchill0
-
Karn Evil 9 by ELP, epic!0

Brilliant choice0 -
The Teachers Are Afraid Of The Pupils - Morrissey0

Peter Green - I've Got a Mind to Give Up Living
Based on BB King's All Over Again. BB King
There are many Peter Green tracks that are epic. The blues guitarist that gave BB chills.
Worried Dream
This one is only 4 mins long so doesn't meet Goo's criteria, but epic non the less.
Love that Burns0 -
Goo and Blakey have already posted 2 of my faves, but I would like to add
Son of Alerik
Technically not a song but just a jam session.0 -
Venturing into blues rock, nominate:
Sloe Gin by Joe Bonamassa0 -
Bit of a weird favourite of mine since I heard it on Tommy Vance's rock show all them years ago - Grendel by Marillion.
If you're having a tea break, might as well have another coffee and more biscuits.Ecrasez l’infame0 -
Yours Is No Disgrace - Yes0
-
Eric D. - I forgot about Like A Hurricane - fantastic choice. Lots of Neil young numbers get extended to great lengths on stage, eg Rocking in the Free World.
In fact just about every song on Weld fits this category0 -
The best have already been nominated; Stargazer, Karn Evil 9.
Awaken by Yes was the one where I got it, how a song could be better by going on for much longer than normal so that's in, so is And You And I by the same bunch. Love And Only Love by Neil Young is tremendous and fits the time requirement as is and does Joey - Bob Dylan. Stargazer would be first choice tho.0 -
2112 Overture - Rush
More of a lunch break track.Always be yourself, unless you can be Aaron Rodgers....Then always be Aaron Rodgers.0 -
"Weekender", Flowered Up
A full 10 minutes or so
And the video is excellent.
Edit: not really "rock", but hey
It's just a hill. Get over it.0
