During last nights ride I could something 'loose' and knocking a bit.

This morning I believe I have found the issue - dropper post.

The dropper part seems loose ish in the seat post is this normal? Ia there a fix?

    how loose is loose ish?

    Its normal for them to have a small amount of play between the dropping and static sections on all droppers, yes.

    As a guide if the nose of the saddle moves sideways by about 5mm it's normal, 10 or over is too much.
    Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.

    Thanks. This must be normal, it doesn't move 5mm - I must have just noticed more last night.
