Zwift event list

Does anyone on here know what the letter (In a coloured circle) next to the start time on the Zwift event list means? I initially assumed it was the rider class but that goes from A-D and there are several with an E.

Cheers

It's meant to be class ... E is everyone ... but rarely to they meet up as declared I have been dropped in B's and keep up in A's
  • In races it's how the final rankings are applied.

The poster above said they were dropped in B races but kept up in A races. It's highly likely that in those B races several riders exceeded the Cat limit and so would be disqualified in the final results on zwift power.

Riders entering the wrong category is a problem with zwift racing. Quite a few riders like to sandbag in lower cats

And in fairness you get bumped up. I started out as a D and then after a few races this week got told I need to enter C from now on. Guess that is improvement for you.

I don't get why people sandbag though as surly if you want a descent workout you want to push hard. So for me it's better to be aiming not to be bottom of the C class , than easily topping the D class class.

Ah ... misunderstanding ... I am not dropped in B races and keep up in A .... in races I am dropped in A and B :D ... general events #pat and training I can keep up.

Racing I am just crap at ... getting better though

I can't believe the speed people go off the line at. They just rocket off and in fairness I cycle my own race, pushing myself hard but the strategy of hoping most will drop off doesn't seem to happen as dramatically as I would expect/hope.

Guess it proves how good some people are and how fit they are to maintain such high power figures for an entire race.

Some races are split into Cats.. so you choose on the app which one you SHOULD enter.. ha!
Re the starts.. yes ballistic.. but there is a race or two organiser who is doing a 2/3 mile neutral start before the sh 1it hits the fan.. a better way.
If you can keep up with the A's and not using 'Z POWER' fair play to you mate.

What does thar z power mean? I've seen people talk about it. Also what does that feather icon mean that appears at times?

That sounds a good way having a nutueral race start as some of those ones I've been in, they just go off like a rocket. Yes I will pass loads of cat D and C riders who clearly have shot their load early on, but I get the feeling to challenge even the top of the C group you need to be in that leading group.
  • Zwift zPower is an estimated power using wheel speed and a "dumb" trainer to calculate your wattage. It can be accurate (ish) but can also be waaaaay out. Also easy to cheat using it.

The feather icon that appears over a rider's head is when they are using their featherweight power up. Makes them lighter for a few seconds. If you mean it's in your top left corner of screen then you have that power up, press spacebar to use it. There's a bunch of different ones. Google the unofficial Zwift FAQ for more.

Thanks for that. Answered loads of my Zwift questions there and now I know what they all mean . I was wondering what the orange bar did? Assumed at first it was race distance, but then worked out it couldn't be. Lol

Orange bar is your current level, fill the bar and you get a prize! Unless it's a race then it is race distance!
