I picked up a Rapha Pro Team jacket on here for less than a ton. I'm anything but a brand whore ( my jerseys are all muddy fox bar one) but the jacket is fantastic. Good water repellant, breathable as you like and can keep me warm down to whatever the temps have been so far this year with nothing more than said muddy fox jersey underneath. If you can find one SH or are lucky enough to afford a new one then highly recommended.

    Check out the DHB jacket - http://www.wiggle.co.uk/dhb-aeron-full- ... softshell/

Bright colours - under a ton and much less if you have discount.

Was great with just one base layer at zero this weekend for a 4 hour plus ride.

You get a discount from wiggle based on how much you've bought. Currently i'm on 12%

No idea on the sportful. I've not worn that.
And its the same price as the recomended dhb?

I have a Gabba II and a Sportful Flandre extreme. Both not cheap but trust me they are awesome at keeping you warm

Each to their own but I sold my gabba - mate and me wore them on a crappy weather day in August. It was torrential rain but we both near went hypothermic. And crappy fit at the neck too. Loose ? How can they get that wrong ?

I have the Mistral jacket and the newly released Mistral biblongs.
Fantastic bit of kit and a couple of my cycling buddies have also invested following my recomendation.
You can wear it down to freezing with just a long sleeve base underneath. It's also water resistant and having been caught in a heavy shower in 3 degrees I can pay testament to its quality.
Also used it upto 10 degrees and it's OK too, not too hot.

I had an issue with stitching coming loose and they replaced without any issues after 6 months, great service, great kit.
The silver on the rear lights up a treat when lights shone on it at night.

Why don't you order the jacket for Blokey with your discount: he gets cheaper jacket, you get increased discount due to having spent more.

When jacket arrives at your crib, he transfers money to your account, you post on. No money turns up, you return jacket to Wiggle and get refund. If he was nice he'd send you some pork scratching as a thank you pressure.

Everyone's a winner. Winner winner chicken for supper in fact.

  • This if you like the colours (matches my bike):

Warm, visible, well fitting etc. You'll probably find that the next level down (700 series) will also do the job pretty well. No need to spend more than this imo.
  • The Galibier kit does look amazing value. What's the feedback?

I am personally a Rapha Pro-Team jacket fan. You just add a base layer to suit the weather and you are done. However not good in heavy rain. Once sodden they take a long while to dry out on a ride.
