I am new to road biking and am planning on buying my first road bike very soon. Right now there is a close out deal at lbs caad8 tiagra ? But for another $300 I can get the synapses??? So do you think it is worth the extra cash? I am planning on doing a 2 day 175 mile bike ride in late June. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also any first hand experience on either bike?

I own a caad8 :-) but I would say go for the synapse - I've dampened the ride on my 8 with a carbon seat post but it's still nowhere near as comfortable a ride as my roubaix (which might loosely be described as Specialized's "equivalent" of the Synapse, although the Roob has been around for much longer)

TBH, I've never ridden a CAAD of any description but my gut reaction would still be get the Synapse as I have got one and it is a superb bit of kit. It might also be useful to know what the comparative specs of the two bikes were.
