What's the point of a dirt jumper?

Why do dirt jumpers exist? I'm asking this out of genuine curiosity, and not hating on dirt jumpers, but BMXs are easier to trick (because their smaller), more lightweight, have less things to go wrong, and cost less. So why do dirt jumpers exist when a BMX seems to be better for dirt jumping.

BMX have teeny tiny wheels and are suited to small children. DJ bikes are suited to larger children.
Grown ups ride mountain bikes.

Dirt jump bikes are better on dirt. Easier for certain tricks and BMX's just feel wrong if you're used to mountain bikes.
Dirt jump bikes are much better for slopestyle stuff.
They are also pretty handy for 4x
