Corporate cycling events

Has anyone done any good ones? I found an old thread on here bemoaning the number of sportives and pleading with the OP not to setup another one.

But are there any good corporate cycling events? I'm basically trying to organise a less stuffy, more exciting version of the corporate golf day.

Is the best solution a block of entries into one of the larger sportives and do it for charity?

We organise one - or have done for the past few years.

Depends on who you have working with you, but I found the best thing is to get together and do it yourself. I brought together a few things - a couple of tamed pro / semi-pro riders, a start / finish point in a hotel so you can include catering, a support car to meet at pit-stops, etc, a first-aider, and of course, a route. Checked it's covered by the company insurance, risk assessed it, job done! I'm lucky to have a great team working with me which makes it happen, otherwise it would probably be quite tricky to get off the ground.

However, it works reasonably well - then all you have to do is invite people along and hope they turn up! And yes - there are plenty of non-golfing, non-footballing cyclists out there who are screaming out to be part of a more interesting corporate event.

There are companies that organise them too, but they charge a fortune for something that really shouldn't cost much at all.
  • Thanks for that.

How many people do you have join the ride and roughly what's the cost per head?

Also, do you do different length routes, maybe a longer, tougher one and a shorter more relaxed one, or just go for one route?
