    Morning,

In the office today, not sure I'm better again after the last few months of illness but I didn't get anything done last week so I have no real choice, last day of antibiotics today. Verbal offer accepted on a house on Saturday so we are waiting for the solicitors to open to submit a formal offer (terrified)

    Morning folks,
Bit nippy out. Wobbled in to work as I'm back in the office full time now. After much laziness that was hard work, my fitness has never been great and has taken a dive with all the working from home. On the bright side it cleared my lungs a little, shame it was still dark it would have been a nice sunrise in the park.
Bloody customers, I started writing this ages ago and they keep phoning me and interrupting.
  • Had guests over the weekend, which meant extra wine rations were required, mainly to keep the peace. They left this morning so normal service is resumed.

Today involved ladders, power tools, and a lot of breaks for a swim because the humidity was about 7839274392%!

Wonder whether my voodoo doll of the b@st*rd surgeon is having an effect yet, see how he likes it.

Looking forward to a different theme to Hawkwind. You know there's no impact lost in simplicity SG.

Do I going and have a nosey at PPP to see if engineery walla has turned up as he said he would, or do I trust that he has and everything is progressing well? Decisions, decisions.
Might try some more bike riding today.

    Laters.

Hmm... not sure welder bloke has seen me in lycra. Some people think your odd when they discover your are a cyclist and street cred gets diminished. I think i'll maintain the illusion that I am a common caveman like him.

Hall to living room wall was removed. Partly because any form of chemical DPC was going to be insufficient because the damn botchit builders from hell had put up a timber frame, put brick in the apertures but... and I cannot think of any other way they would have done it*, the timber uprights went straight into the ground - through the membrane.

*Erected the framework and then done the concreting!

So, with no wall and the fact that I am insulating throughout, the open plan plan came to me in one of those moments. The other benefit is the huge increase in light. So welder walla is putting in an H section beam (flush with the other one) and two uprights at each end. Hence the foundation work I had done - pics in PPP thread.

  • If and when we do the planned extension on the back of the house I'll need a beam about 7m long. Good job I know where to get stuff like that from. I might even have one kicking about in the yard!

H section worked out at about £14 per metre. F*ck all really.

If I thought about replacing the wall...

    6 x 4" x 4" uprights
    7 lengths 2.5 x 1.5" CLS (4.8m)
    Insulation/sound proofing
    Sterling Board
    Plasterboard
    Plaster
    + Skirting
    + Cost of door(s)

    Total installation cost of beam:

    £50 Concrete
PVA - had a stock of that
Membrane - had left over for the Gulag
    £170 for steel
    £200 labour.

Not bad really. I think i'm heading over there...

I was referring to the blizzard of spam offering a bewildering selection of counterfeit documents, and which is making navigating the forum more than a little tedious...

Terrible hand signals and calling out hazards, slow, inability to manage pace as in we would get to a decent tack an then they would shout they need to slow down again to about 10mph for no real reason.
There were a couple of small hills which I stomped off up. had to wait at the top only for one to catch up an tell me they don't do that kind of thing in this club. Also apparently helmet cover (British Cycling one) is too patriotic.

An Veronese you going round with the blinkers on again?

Long day of working in the office is just as bad sometimes.

Got roped into an exercise of pulling together proposals to cut head office expenses next year. I am quite tempted to suggest that we sack the useless feckers that sent the request in the first place
