I stopped reading at 'blog'... ;)
  • I think you're all a load of cynical bstds. I give kudos to my friends to recognise any kind of interesting ride, and I accept kudos on the same basis. The strangers following you thing is a bit weird, but I just ignore them.

    I stopped caring at Sloopy
  • What a pointless exercise writing this blog piece was. Total bollocks from start to finish. Some people just like giving kudos, who cares? Apart from you.

Well its just a waste of time isn't it? Its fair enough to comment on the blog with positive or negative feedback, to leave a comment basically stating you have no interest in reading it adds little, apart from an additional post to your post count, no?

It makes the point that I'm not particularly interested in reading the blog of yet another newbie/born-again cyclist hoping to get hits on his blogsite, regardless of whether he uses my comments as evidence for his PhD thesis or not. In that sense, the comment is equally as valid as any other.

A comment from someone who didn't read the article because of a lack of interest in the subject is as valid as any other? What do you mean by valid?

It means my comment relates to this thread rather than his blog. If I wanted to comment on his blog (which I don't) I would have read his blog.

Hmm, now I'm confused. You are posting on a thread about a blog you aren't interested in (not because of the subject matter, you just don't like blogs if I understand correctly) and as the topic of the thread is the blog you aren't interested in, surely there will be little merit in anything you contribute?

I usually only contribute to threads I am interested in, or have something of value to contribute to, have I been getting forums wrong all these years? Perhaps that is why you have almost 10x the post count I do, yet I've been a member of this forum for 10 years longer than you.

I am also enjoying the fact that every time you post, you keep this thread at the top of the page and promote Tony's blog for him.
  • That said, I did read it and found it a waste of my time, so taking against it on principle would have saved me that.

Ironically, your posts here are not even a direct response to the topic (at least mine are). They relate to your challenge to someone else's opinion on the subject matter. Ironic, no?

If your posts on this thread are anything to go by, then clearly the answer is 'yes'. See above.

Maybe you just don't post very much. Why don't you continue to worry about your own post count, I will continue to not give a sh1t about mine and you can continue to wallow in the pomposity that being on here for '10 years longer than me' apparently gives you?

He's very welcome. I'm sure he's a nice guy. I just don't like cycling blogs in general.

I have some spare Kudos's for sale if anyone interested, maybe i can put them on eBay xmas wrapped £5 each? :!:

On a serious note, they mean nothing at all as far as I'm concerned, just an acknowledgement that I've seen a mates ride or they've seen mine, we all treat them the same way. Some people only give kudos for what they consider hard/extreme rides, not standard training rides. At the end of the day the only people who see my Kudos are my cycling buddies, and as far as I know once the kudos is given, it's forgotten a millisecond later

I give out Kudos and receive it for a variety of reasons. I recently received kudos for a 3km ride into work. It was my first time on the bike since i broke my tibia and fibula back in July and no doubt anyone without knowledge of the tough six months I've been through would think it offering kudos for this particular ride needless, I appreciated the support and acknowledgement of my friends on what I considered a significant milestone. Merit can be based on different things than just the severity or length of a ride. I do have a couple of followers that seem to give kudos for every ride I do, however I can't say I've every considered their motives beyond the common bond of us both being cyclists.

and why not indeed, doesn't need any deeper thinking than that :)

Interestingly -and I use that term in it's loosest possible sense - mundane rides appear to attract more "kudos" than anything a bit more challenging or quick.

    The mundane acknowledging the mundane?

Ha ha - cheers Mike. Just shows how wrong your guesses can be. Nothing like a bit of ad hominem to finish a thread off nicely. People in glass houses 'n all that, eh... ;)

The thing is though 'Mike', if you add up the posts of all your previously-banned usernames, I suspect your true postcount is actually quite high. Like I said earlier, glass houses, etc...
