Hi
I'm new to the forum & looking to buy a new bike which will be mainly used for commuting 7 miles each way 5 days a week. Currently I've been looking at the Eastway emitter 2 or the eastway zeners D1,D2 or D3 from wiggle. Any recommendations upto £1500. I've never had disc brakes so i'm a bit apprehensive of them & their maintenance.
Cheers Mark

seems excellent value.0 -
If you get hydraulic disc brakes then maintenance is zero (far less hassle than rim brakes)
Every 3-4000 miles you change the brake pads which is a 5 minute job, nothing else is required, they self adjust when the pad wears down0 -
Have you somewhere secure for the bike at work? 1500 is inviting for thieves.
Check out the triban range in decathlon. They get good reviews and there are good options for £500 or so.
Personally I would stick with rim brakes if you're used to them.
For a commuter you need full proper guards and able to take 25mm tyres at least.0 -
Disks any day for a commuting bike, much easier to fit decent sized tyres and guards, no grinding paste on your rims and much better wet weather braking.0
