Hi Guys,

I just made an impulse buy this morning from here with this price

https://www.winstanleysbikes.co.uk/prod ... _2016_Bike

instead of what I was going for the Jeffsy CF Comp 1.

https://www.yt-industries.com/uk/detail ... rticle/612

Did I make the right choice?!

I am doubting myself.

I have been away from MTB scene for a while since my son was born and I am looking to get back in with my son.

I'd have the Trance over the YT.
Brilliant frame, very well made and indestructible.
I've heard of quite a few Jeffsy frames failing and their customer service isn't the best.
Dirt magazine absolutely love everything YT make. They could take a dump on a pair of pram wheels and Dirt would call it the greatest bike ever made.

I have seen some of your posts over the past few months.

    You really don't like YT.

I must say I never thought I would buy a Giant or Specialised even though I would always like to try them. So far I've had Kona and Canyon Strive.

I remember when I first bought Canyons (I also have their Ultimate), people say the same thing as well that their frame is crap and the company is no good but now it is some peoples dream bike.

The only reason I don't have a Canyon Spectral now is because I ordered one and took them one year and then they cancelled my ordered without me knowing and never bothered to message me. Hopefully their dark days are over but I've moved on to YT. Sad to hear that Jeffsy's frames are failing because I think their advert is probably the best I've seen and I was sold.

Nobody took notice of YT until the Capra got famous through rave reviews not from just dirt magazines but from all bike reviewers including BikeRadar.

Thank you for your post. I've finally got a Giant that I wanted but never thought I would own.

Canyon still aren't great. Their deliveries are sorted but their customer service is famously terrible.
The Spectral is average at best.
I don't quite understand why Rose and Solid aren't the more popular German brands. They're equally good value as Canyon, YT and Radon but with excellent frames.

I actually have a Rose Xeon DX.

Rose is great. Good customer service.

No bike reviewers are going crazy with their MTB range. I must say I took a look and didn't look very desirable. They need to up their marketing game.

Canyon customer service is terrible but that's in the UK. The germans are quite good unfortunately they can't help you much and will redirect you back to UK.

Since we can't ride all the bike ourselves so we rely on all the reviews that places such as bike radar dish them out and we trust their views. So far Canyon and YT have been Bike Radar favourites and nearly all their bikes are 4 star and above.

I haven't really seen much review on the Jeffsy nor the Giant Trance (well there was one of the newer model) so I had to use my gut instinct.

The Giant is unchanged since 2013 other than the fork which is now, fortunately much better than some of the early reviews mentioned.

Well I hope that not changing their frame for three years it means that they believe it is a frame that works.

I've never tried the maestro system but finger crossed.

It seems the 1 (not on offer) model is more popular than the 0 model but I am sure the pike is more than good enough for me.

Anyway waiting for delivery now for the bike and I hope I like it.

I know you will only choose the Giant out of these two but if you had the same amount of money which one will you go for?

You've bought the Giant now so stop asking what other people would have bought and just start riding and enjoying it when it arrives.

Just because I bought something doesn't mean I am not intrigued in what other people want? After All we are in the MTB forum for buying advice?

If I didn't want others opinion I wouldn't have came here.

If suddenly 10 of you told me buying this is a bad idea I probably would go return it or exchanged for something else for example.

For the money I don't think there's anything else I'd consider except for the Rose Granite Chief. There's not much between them though.

Thank you guys for the reassurance.

I did look at the rose Granite Chief but it was out of stock for my size.

The Trance is one of the best of the shelf mtb for the money and personally I feel punches above its weight. I didn't buy the trance as I prefer its smaller brother the Anthem, I have found that as my ability improves I feel I should have got the trance to start with. Don't worry about will it or won't It be any good, the only thing that will affect the bikes ability detrimentaly is the riders lack of ability. When it arrives set up the suspension and just ride you won't be disappointed.

    Thank yoiu very much.
