Hi all

I want to get a bashgaurd for my Nukeproof

It's got a 38 tooth cog and I want to get a bash guard for it

The 38t are expensive

The 40 or 42t are cheaper and more common, Could I use one of them?

Thanks

Phil

You could but if you use a chain device it'll be too far from the chain ring to work properly.

You can use a chain device with a double chain ring set up.
An oversized bash might also effect front mech set up.

A couple of teeth difference shouldn't.

As long as the bash is no bigger than the big ring mounted in the same location it shouldn't have an effect. Most ring spacing is around 10 teeth (so 38 to 48 in this case - Shimano trecking ratios) so 1 40 or 42t bash will have no effects.

    Right

    Following on from this

I picked up a bash guard to my Nukeproof. I have got it with 2 cogs up front

Bit I have Found an Issue tho. The 4 bolts in the crank, when I undo them it only loosens the outer cog and I can't see a way to attach it and retain the cog

    It's a Shimano Deore crank

    Any ideas

    I think it's a Deore M615 if that helps

    If it's a double crank, you can't.
