Telly training.

I don't really "train", I just like to ride my bike. But when it's nasty weather outside I do my "telly training". I pop my rollers in front of the telly and while the program is on I spin (50/19'ish) and when the ads come on I stick it up near or in top gear and push until the ads end. Usually for around an hour.No science involved but the silly name makes me chuckle and keeps the old legs going. Anyone else have thier own non scientific way of doing indoor riding?

    Zwift.

I don't follow workouts but a daily hour of group rides that throw in sprints, cat and mouse, threshold and mini race games with 10-60 others is annoyingly addictive

You don't get time to relax though, if you stop paying attention and loose the pack, getting back in is somewhat a chore .. and sometimes the end of the ride if you either can't get back or expend so much energy getting back you then can't keep up
  • YouTube for me.

Gives me a bit of structure to my training.

  • I ride on rollers with a heart monitor. Play a CD loudly; one track maintain a heartrate of 140, next track aim for 165+. Repeat for 1 hour, hoping that the 165+ sections don't coincide with a 10 min guitar solo.
  • Rollers + Zwift.

You can't space out otherwise it'll end badly (or with a funny YouTube clip). Either a group ride, smashing the "climbs" or just chasing down other riders. Loads of fun! An hour of indoor riding pretty much flies by.

Tell me about it. Chasing back on is almost impossible!

The time to avoid "prog rock" by the sounds of it.
I was riding and watching the cyclocross the other night. Took some concentration as they went around that spiral.
  • I have been using Zwift recently and this has given my training more focus and intensity, but I really miss riding to those CTXC YouTube videos. They are definitely the best of their kind out there. I think I will mix it up with them and my new-fangled toy.

Have spent an hour playing fifa on the PS4 whilst bimbling along in zone 2 on the turbo a few times, works well for a chilled out session. both things go to pot if you ride too fast.
  • When riding outside I just ride my bike without structure.

When riding inside it's the same just on Zwift.
