Hi all,

This is my first post on this forum so thank you for giving me the opportunity.

I currently have a 89 Orbit Graffiti colour scheme I think ?
Also a 87 Raleigh Montage that I am trying to turn into a touring bike.

The help I could do with today is which type of specialized is this?
I picked it up cheap, it has shimano disks and everything seems to be shimano based .
I know very little about bikes in general so I am completely lost as to which one this is.
I have tried the specialized site but could not spot it in their archives.
It needs some TLC & I am hoping to pass it on to someone else as I am 6'2 and spend on my montage.

I would be very grateful for any input & to the moderators I hope I m in the right place.

Many thanks

Some of them, no model, they are aftermarket bits. The bars at least. But clear pictures of bits help, can't make out things like forks etc. And your pictures don't actually work. Remove a set of 'img' tags.

That's a 2009 Hardrock. Not a bad frame for general xc riding.

Disagree with RmSC: I think it's a 2011 Hardrock Pro Disc.

Very similar colours to my old 2009 model. I agree, it's a 2011 model.
They didn't change anything other than colours for quite a few years.
    Terrible value when new.

And forks are probably toast by now. Bad enough new.

I don't disagree, but funny how the BR review at the time said:-
SR Suntour’s XCR appears in different forms on different bikes, and its performance varies enormously. Specialized’s custom-tuned version simply gets decent damping, something that’s sorely lacking on most other rides in this price bracket.

Its 80mm of travel is a genuine 80mm, not exactly plush but always active unless you flick the lockout lever or tighten the preload. The lockout lever on top of the right leg is very effective too. It’s amazing how much influence a fork can have on the overall ride character of a bike around this price.

    and
We’ve seen better finishing parts on £600 bikes but the fork performance and frame quality more than make up for that.

Steel stanchions don't help. They look a bit messy in the blurry photos.

Bikeradar used to give it glowing reviews while everyone else at the time could see it was a steaming turd. The frame was decent enough but for the price it had terrible components. 8 speed transmission, SRAM X5 and Suntour cranks were about right for a £300 bike at the time, not good enough at £600
The fork was no better than any of the competition had.
Bikeradar and MBUK had a lot of advertising from Specialized at the time.

The Pro disc as reviewed was vaguely decent, but it was only for sale for a short time, then Spesh relied on people buying the other (much worse) Lardrocks based off reading the review of the Pro disc.

The Lardrock frame wasn't that great at all, I wonder if they used a Rockhopper frame for the Pro disc, the equivalent Carrera frame was very similar to the Rockhopper frame and much better than the Lardrock frame.

The XCR forks weren't bad when new, but the chrome stanchions wore too fast and rust (and therefore knackered) forks was an issue, the forks in your photo are clearly FUBAR, you need new ones, suspension or rigid!
