So, what is the style conscious MTBer who wants to avoid hypothermia wearing this winter?
This will be the first winter back on the bike for about 15 years for me...
Currently, I start with bib-shorts (because of my muffin-top) with a Tenn Outdoors MX top and Tesco cargo shorts over them. This combo obviously isn't waterproof. I have a pair of Endura Singletrack trousers and an Endura Gridlock "Waterproof" jacket, but they are splashproof at best. I also have non-cycling specific fleece tops for layering. Cold is fairly easy to deal with, it's wet and/or cold that is the issue.
I'm thinking of sticking with bibs, but either 3/4 of full length and lightweight, possibly waterproof, shorts over the top as they will be quick drying. The disadvantage with this is shoes filling up with water. I dug a pair of Northwave Arctic 210 boots out of the garage the other day, along with a pair of Sealskinz socks of similar vintage so hopefully that's my feet sorted...
