SS or GS derailleur?
Hi on a second hand bike how do you tell what you have fitted?
Its a 105 model, bike is 10 speed. 5700 i think
Do GS ones have alot longer cage than SS so you could measure it, to determine, or is there a part number somewhere, I can't find one...

10sp is RD 5700 SS or GS the later model is RD 5701 SS or GS, count the number of teeth on the cassette largest sprocket if it is 27/28/30 it is most likely to be a SS if the bike has a double/compact crankset. If the bike has a triple crankset it should be a GS, longer pulley cage, if it is still has O.E. fit components.

You can tell by measuring the length of the derailleur cage as per this video.

The SS cage (measured as distance between jockey wheel spindles) is 59mm. The GS is 86mm0
