Anyone got a bad word for the Fenix 3? What with the fat bloke in a red suit on his way soon this could well be this years gift !
The SP sapphire is a 'recycled' one , any thoughts on the vfm ? Will keep checking for the sub £200 mark to arrive in anticipation of the 5 being released.
Sure it will be better but as I have no idea of half what my phone does a 3 will surely suffice.Enigma Esprit Di2 - Go tI ! Summer !0 -
No one puts a Fenix 3 in the corner so no, no bad words.
The recon Sapphire is a bargain, still has a year warranty remember. Should be fine.
Sub £200? I think it's unlikely, there may be the odd one without HRM at say £225 or so (there are a few at £249 now) but with the new one likely to be around the £350 mark I don't think you'll see huge differences. Also, the 5 is unlikely to be a step up from the 3 in the same way the 3 was from the 2My blog: http://www.roubaixcycling.cc (kit reviews and other musings)

Fenix 3 sapphire with a hrm strap, £365 got a price match from evans , expected on the 28th.
Looking forward to the imminent arrival and undoubted hours wasted choosing a watch face and layout of screens !Enigma Esprit Di2 - Go tI ! Summer !0 -
If you want something cheap for occasional use why drop £300 on a fenix? Garmin 500 and a wrist strap will do everything you want.

what about the 4?
do you have a source for this? i've been thinking of getting a fenix 3 but can hang on if the 4 (or 5) is around the corner0 -
Two mates have just had theirs for Xmas based on my recommendation and both are very happy. Eldest son wants one for his birthday next month as well. When I got it I figured I'd probably just wear it for exercise. I was wrong. I take it off to charge it and that's it.My blog: http://www.roubaixcycling.cc (kit reviews and other musings)

super_davo wrote:I'm a big fan of my Vivoactive. Its definitely not as fancy as a Fenix, but it cost only £100. The main thing I like is that its small enough to wear all day every day.
It can do all the sports tracking you need, its got Ant+ capability and bluetooth, it can sync to your phone and be a smartwatch, and quite importantly its got access to the Connect IQ store, so you can add apps and features. For example it doesn't have native support for Power meters, but there's an app to add the functionality. Same with Open Water swimming, navigation etc. You can only have 8 apps at a time but they can be installed and uninstalled quickly enough to add what you want.
I have the vivoactive HR and it's brilliant. Still use my edge 800 for planned cycling events, but the VAHR is great for running/swimming and other sports, like skiing, golf, rowing..
It has a built in optical HR monitor which is shockingly accurate for non HI training although I still pair mine with my Garmin chest strap.0 -
