Hi everyone.

I’m thinking to buy a new commute bike. The distance between my house and my job is 6.5 mi. Currently I´m using an old vintage Road Peugeot 105. I´m happy whit that but some parts are in bad condition and It doesn’t brake properly under on the rainy days. I spent some money but it is almos the same...

I´m thinking to buy other new road bike under 300 or 350 pounds because many time leave my bike alone in the city centre and I prefer don’t use something very expensive.

I´m thinking in the next bikes:

But the last one is too expensive… but maybe it is worthy.

Which one do you recommend me??

Any other??

Thanks a lot.

  • Your links don't seem to work.
I have a Carrera-Virtuoso that was one on your list, now normally I wouldn't buy anything from that place, but I have to say for the price the Carrera, although a tank, is not a bad bike for a commute. I use mine for my winter ride. It has bottom end bits, you may have to upgrade the rubber to something in 25mm and fit mudguards, but hey you're only riding 6.5 miles each way, you could get away with a butchers bike.
  • On the CRC Black Friday deal...

Provided you are not above a 54cm there is still stock.
Only £299 - I think it's hard to go past it tbh.

Boardman bikes always get decent reviews. You won't go far wrong.

If its for commuting though - you need to make sure it takes full mudguards and get the shop to put them on for you.
  • Are you in the UK? If so, have you access to a Cycle to Work scheme through your place of work?

You'd be able to not only spread the cost, but your budget would be able to stretch to something about 30% more expensive for the same outlay.
  • LakesLuddite, I live in UK but I have to wait till january...
