BB is sqaure taper UN55.

Hi what type if any threadlock or other product/method etc would you recommend?

Parktool mentions loctite 242.

Also 50 nm torque reccomended

I don't want it to come loose and ruin the frame, as italian ones have a rep of comming loose due to the thread direction.

242 or 243 are medium strength so either should be fine. I think you only need to use it on the drive side on Italian BB cups, and a smear of grease on the NDS.
Rose Xeon CDX 3100, Ultegra Di2 disc (nice weather)
Ribble Gran Fondo, Campagnolo Centaur (winter bike)
    Van Raam 'O' Pair
Land Rover (really nasty weather  )
  • I didn't use Loctite on any of my Italian frames but always torqued them up, never had a problem.

+1. If your BB shell and BB are in good condition there should be no need for any threadlockers. Just tighten it up properly and ride with no worries.
