Single Speed Rear Wheel Hub Explosion
Had a Mango SS for about 3 years now, been great, easy to maintain etc.
Anyway, riding home last Fri I ground to a halt as my rear wheel started wobbling all over the place.
I had a quick look but as had no tools (have Tannus tyres so don't carry anything with me usually) and saw a bit of a gap between chainstay and hub nuts.
Chucked it in an Uber an got home.
Yesterday I had a look at it and without really knowing what's going on, the cap that holds the bearings in has come loose and there's metal bbs all over the place. When I tighten up the nuts the skewer goes wonky and won't sit flush.
Does the picture below make sense to anyone, and if so any tips?
It's done 10,000km and cost me £250 so I'm not surprised if it is dead and needs replacing....

Well, you can clearly see that you are losing your balls... It might be serviceable, but my instinct says it's one for the bin.
The most annoying thing is that there isn't a practical way to remove a Tannus tyre and re-fit it, so that also goes in the binleft the forum March 20230 -
Ya annoying re: the tyre but coming towards the end of it's life too I think, bit of a flatspot appearing round it.0

Nothing to loose by stripping it down and seeing if it can be rebuilt, but it's not looking hopeful.Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0

You've probably bent the axle - new one plus some ball bearings will only be a few quid - but you'll need to clean-out the inside of the hub to see if there's any damage inside. It'll probably cost you at least £50 to replace the hub and have the wheel rebuilt and a new wheel won't cost much more.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0
