Rapha PT Winter cap alternatives

The Rapha PT winter cap was pretty much perfect for my requirements:

Softshell, so water resistant, breathable, warm enough when wet
Peaked
Covered my ears

BUT -
The elastic around the head always gave me a headache or left a stupid red mark
Also the peak never stayed up, which was bloody annoying at times.

Can anyone recommend something which is a softshell kind of material, covers the ears and has a peak, and is reasonably priced?

I have tried both the old and newer cap and neither worked out in the end.

Thanks

Think mine sounds like that. Believe it's a Castelli. I'll have a look tonight.

No migraine inducing elastic and the peak will stay up if required

And it wouldn't have been as expensive as a Rapha one...

ETA just checked my extensive Wiggle back catalog, it's a Castelli Difesa, thankfully I paid only £21. It's £35 now

    It is good though...

I've Sealskin - great hat but won't fit under helmet. I use it with an old helmet with the Plastic inners missing .

I have the Rapha winter hat and find I have the same issue. It's just and idea but you could try my alternative for everything but the coldest of wet days which is a standard rapha cap with a sportful headband around it.

It keep the water out of the eyes but your ears toasty. Plus you can pull the ear covers off if you do get too hot.

Oh and the sealskin reflective one my Dad bought and its peak it no use at all. Too wide and didn't stay up.

I was in my local Evans last week and actually tried on the Castelli Difesa which I was impressed with. I would probably have bought one there then had they had something other than black but they didn't so I went home empty handed. Seeing your post has now reminded me to look for another colour on line.

Thanks guys. Food for thought. I think the Castelli one looks perfect and £35 is what I paid (and got refunded) for the Rapha one.

The condor one does also look good, but the ear flaps look more woolen (like the Rapha Classic Winter Cap) which may hold water when wet?

Yes woolen - nice quality though.
