Hi, I've got some M785s ordered to replace my Avids and was hoping someone could clear up whether I need to order some mounts for the calipers. The bike is a 2014 Whyte T-129s.

As long as you are not changing rotor size you should not need new adaptors0
-
If your brakes are the older ones with the 'CPS' or 'tri-align' washers you will need shorter bolts though.Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0

Ok cheers for that, it looks like they are.
So what bolts do I need? Do I just buy new bolts and ditch the washers?0 -

Looking again at the set I've ordered it comes with a bolt so I just ditch the avid bolts / washers and use these?

The bolts that came with the M785s are too short for the post bracket thing (the caliper would be too close to the rotor without)
Do I need a shimano bracket or just longer boots?
See link for bracket in question; http://www.treefortbikes.com/product/33 ... mm-PM.html0 -
Right I think I've figured out myself I need one of these in 180mm

Can anyone confirm?0 -
There is no reason you shouldn't be able to use the adaptors than were with the Avids.
As the calliper sits on the mount, the bolt has nothing to do with setting its position at all.
Just bolt it up, it should work fine.Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0 -
The Avid adapter will work with the Shimano brake.
How the Shimano brakes attach to the 180mm adapter:

Bolt lengths will be shown on these:

Stock bolts are 18.7mm
Bolts for a 180mm PM adapter are 32.1mm and 37.9mm0 -
Did this a week ago. The bolts I used were M5x30 and M5x35. Any hex head bolt or set screw that won't rust will do the trick.0
