Good morning class...
Turbo last night so feeling like a cycling wannabe again.
Off out to the midlands today, the thought of which fills me with about as much joy as last nights turbo hour.
Not sure what tonight will bring, probably decorating.

No decorating for me tonight as it's my birthday, just got to get through work first0

For some reason I woke up remembering that I had an old pack of Top Trumps stashed away in my study drawer - then went down to look at the news.
In early for another video conf call with the Kingdom of Far Far Away  I'm tired. Think I will knock off early tonight."I spent most of my money on birds, booze and fast cars: the rest of it I just squandered." [George Best]0 -

Well the world's balance has been restored with the USA, now without question, the dumbest nation on earth as the position was briefly enjoyed by the UK after Brexit.
Now we can look across the pond and feel smug.

Mmmmmmmmm cake.
Happy Birthday TLW.
OK day, if you count a short walk in a strong cool breeze to a cafe for lunch which decided today was the day they'd forget how to cook a decent meal or make nice coffee as an "OK" day. We didn't.
Otherwise had a call about some work from a contracting firm who, as is often the case, appear to have promised their client they can deliver "X" piece of work in about a week, and wondered if I would be available to do it. Shame my opinion of the required effort is different by a factor of 10... I don't think I'll take that one on despite needing a job - my PI insurance probably barely covers the potential downside of that little clusterf*ck going wrong. Happy Birthday, does the pub know this and suitably stocked and staffed?
Q for you lot as you all love your neighbours and like to rebuilt houses and the estate agent was useless earlier. One of the houses I am looking at has some cover thing over the drive/side of house) which goes over to the neighbours. Personally I'd want rid and to build a garage (bike storage). Legal and hassle regarding such a matter?
If I need a picture for clarity let me know.0 -

Ciao
TLW: happy birthday - many congrats. As they say in my neck of the woods, one year closer to dying but if I put that it here First Attack or whatever that weird dude from road general is called would probably take umbrage and start on me.
Woke up in a state of shock as my dream had H to the I winning and when I found out that it was indeed the Lord of the Idiots (Emperor of the Idiots go to Farage) I must admit that an expletive did slip from my lips.
Apart from that, excellent day at work in the woods playing at what we do then we lined up a bit of diving in th afternoon only to sack it off as we decided that it would be too cold. Tomorrow beckons with cycling on works time paid for by you guys - thank you very much.
Ciao for nowPostby team47b » Sun Jun 28, 2015 11:53 am

Happy 60th TLW. It's probably a matter of moving whatever it is be it drainage or sewerage. Important to ascertain which as gutter drainage is easier and cheaper to shift. The existing pipes could be extended and given a manhole cover somewhere else. I hope there isn't mains water supply at that point or it is an access point for a myriad of pipework, drainage, waste etc.
Find out what is under the cover.
It may be that to shift it requires x amount of money and you will only offer y amount for the house as a result of plans to build a man cave over what is called 'services'. A bit of purchasing leverage?
If it is innocuous, then build a garage over it leaving the cover exposed on the garage floor. It's relatively simple to add 4 to 6 inches of concrete and create a manhole cover that is raised and flush with the floor. Or if the existing cover isn't on concrete, excavation and screeing with concrete so that you don't have a raised lip from drive to shed/garage thingy.
If the garage floor is any more than 2 inches above the existing ground level, it can create problems.
Legally, any obstruction or obfuscation to a service on your part is your responsibility. You cannot create a problem that affects someone down the line.
Similarly, if you tamper with a water course that flows through your property which results in problems for the person further up the water course, it's your responsibility to resolve it.
You have to find out if your neighbour in any eventuality would require 24 hour access in the event of a problem. If an access point in your property is not accessible to that neighbour, that could mean having to shift the access point and having it in your garage may be a potential problem.seanoconn - gruagach craic!0 -
Evening all,
Crazy day has been had. In the office for a couple of hours from 7.30 to deal with a few orders, then to the girl's school for a meeting with them, educational welfare and CAMHS which was fun. They werll pleased with her progress but want her to stop doing art as it is most demanding time wise. Problem is art is the thing she loves. Managed a compromise but she is not happy which hasn't helped. Then drop the Mrs at her work and then back to the office to finish sorting my sh!t out. Back home to take daughter to physio and now trying to catch up on work. Sorry, didn't manage to bake TLW a cake. Happy birthday though. I will go and have a beer just to celebrate.
Anything else been going on in the world?
Fluffer, a picture may help. I would say if the shelter is acroass a shared passage way you would have to suppoert it so that their side is not affected. You may be able to tie it to what you propose building. I would suggest knocking on the door and discussing with them. Explain that you are interested in the place but would want to do whatever and how do they feel about it. You may find they have similar plans. Better to know the lay of the land before you go any surther and I'm sure they would appreciate it. You can also find out if they are batshit crazy.0 -
