5/10 Freerider contacts

Hi
I'm new to MTB (+ cycling in general) & have been riding easy fire trails & junior trails for about 2 months now trying to increase my skills & fitness.
Currently rearing some old Crocs as my footwear on some DMR V6 pedals. The Cros are way too wide for the job & are the next thing to get sorted. I've been thinking of 5/10 Freerider Contacts as compared to the regular Freeriders, the Contacts look like they could be easier to keep clean - with no suede to get grubby.
My concern about the Contacts is the complete lack of grip on part of the sole. My question of any owners of this model, is that do you find that your feet can slip when getting on or off the bike or walking about a car park when it's wet?

No trouble on paved surfaces like car parks, as the soft rubber grips these just fine. They can be slippy on mud etc when you're pushing the bike. Worth that little bit of pay-off for the on-the-bike feel, though. You don't choose riding shoes based on how they are to walk in0

If you are spending that much on shoes I'd look at getting some decent pedals as well.
Look around sales - if you have the right size feet there are bargains to be had. Some random 8, 9, 10 and 11 here, or was last time I looked.
I wouldn't worry about clean - mine sometimes get hosed down with the bike after a ride, normally with my feet in them, but they are supposed to get muddy, just don't wear them to weddings and the like.

Thanks for the replies.
jimothy78 Understood about not choosing for how they are to walk in, but I don't really want to step out the car, lift the bike off the rack & fall over!
cooldad Bearing in mind my Noob status, ie I don't know what I'm talking about... I thought the V6 pedals seem pretty good? My Crocs don't slip on them & the spikes give me a wallop if I have to put my feet down! What should I be looking for?0 -
I use Wellgo MG1 on all my bikes. Colours available if you want, and can be had cheaper from Chinese sellers, if you're prepared to wait.

Superstar Nanos seem to get good reviews, but a bit pricier

DMR V12's but no better IMO than wellgo (I think Wellgo make pedals for DMR anyway)
Basically metal pins, replaceable, and wide enough for your foot. Depends if you have big feet or not.I don't do smileys.

Thanks for the links.
My feet are size 9, regular width I think.
Still trying to understand the pedal thing. I understand about the replaceable studs, I think I knocked off one of my studs on a rock. So I can see the usefulness there. What other things am I looking for?
I've noticed that my pedals don't seem to spin around freely. Are they supposed to do that? They spin, don't seem to rub anything, they feel smooth, just don't whizz around multiple times if I give them a spin.0 -
Smooth is good, they only spin like crazy when tthe grease is low or bearings a bit worn. Full, new bearings generally won't spin, just rotate smoothly.I don't do smileys.
