Wahoo Kickr Snap

Hoping for some helpful advice.
Been looking at turbo trainers for a bit, still unsure what to get.
Was a toss-up between the new Tacx Flux (Not out yet), the Tacx Vortex Smart or the Wahoo Kickr snap. Quite a price range.
I was tempted by the flux as it's a wheel off trainer, but I have 11 speed 105 and the wife 10 speed 105, so guess that would mean two cassettes and faffing around when she wants to use it, so this put this down the list a bit.
So the Vortex or Kickr??
Vortex is cheaper, but has a low gradient limit
Kickr seems to do all I want, and to cap it all, today at Wiggle my Platinum price is £439.99, so £60 off.
So about to pull the trigger, but has anyone got anything bad to say about the Kickr Snap??
Never used a trainer before, but want one that can be controlled by an app, hence this shortlist.
Cheers,
Gary

This and the comments seem a bit negative on the Snap0 -
Thank Shamone.
Makes interesting reading, not seen that link before. Would have thought that as it's over a year old now, there would be more reviews matching those from the man with the Orange overalls. His seems a fairly recent review, comments from only a month ago.
Reviews on Wiggle seem good, DC rainmaker doesn't slate it, nor do most other review sites, so in a quandary now.
CyclOps Magus may be an alternative, but it isn't out yet, and costs more.
My search continues........0 -
I bought the snap ...... absolutely no issues with it al all.
I chose it due to the big fly wheel making it feel more realistic, the spin up and slow down of it feel like the road.
Compatibility with Zwift is perfect, it comes with stickers, its a nice bit of kit, I dont regret it in any way ..... other than I would have spent £500 more on the Neo if I knew it was going to have "road feel" with in 2 months of my buying the Snap.
if you have any questions about the snap, fire away0 -

Thanks fat daddy.
I'm just looking for something that will get me through the winter, offer a reasonable ride experience with variable terrain. I'm not bothered if the power output isn't realistic, I judge that by my legs anyway.
Would also look to be doing some HIIT on it as well, so possibly quick changes from low to high speed.
Want compatibility with Zwift or TR in case I feel I need that for some added incentive.
Certainly not going to be spending out on a direct drive Kickr, can't justify that. As soon as the weather is spring like, I'll be back on the road So that will be June then
So one positive and one negative so far. Not sure how long the offer price will last, hmmm.0 -
I just bought a vortex from CRC with my BC discount for £285(will it be less for you with your platinum? Not sure how that works). I was very tempted by the snap and bkool pro simply due to the fact they are both a bit better spec wise. But Ray seemed to rate the vortex pretty highly and the money saved seemed to be a no brainer in the end.
I've just built a turbo bike out of spare parts so I'll have the ability to use it all year if I want, without any faffing with bikes and wheels. But as you say, it'll no doubt mainly be used for about 3 months a year so I couldn't really justify spending any extra.0 -

I still can't decide if I like road feel or not! But certainly is not worth £500!0 -
The Tacx Flux is showing as expected tomorrow (8th November) at Tredz and Evans.0

Had the Kickr Snap for nearly a year and it has been flawless.0

Pulled the trigger on a Snap last night.
£439.99 from Wiggle, plus another 3% cashback from topcashback, hopefully arriving for Friday, weekend training coming up.0 -

Yep, platinum discount for me at Wiggle. No idea how I got it, just turned up, not complaining though0

Snap now on order0

you wont be disappointed .... well unless, the delivery screws up or you get the 1% with a manufacturing default.
But I truly love mine .... it gets used daily, I actually look forward to my Zwift training. Today I got my arse kicked by a Rachael Elliott whom I tried to keep up with.
Turns out she is the UK 30 mile record holder and twice Brompton world champion .... 10 miles 20:08 ? ..... on a Brompton .. .Fark, she has a FTP 100 more than me, its like a 1.1 Fiesta trying to race a GTR0 -

Ordered my snap from Wiggle on Monday 7th Nov.
Estimated delivery was Friday, 11th Nov
Arrived yesterday, 9th Nov,
Can't argue with that service, and that was the free delivery. Shame I'm away from home working, but something to do on Friday when I return. Maybe a 90 minute HIIT session while watching the footie0 -
My gut feel is they all have the same fault with the poor power regulation. I think wahoo pulled the resistance unit from the normal direct drive trainer but didn't count on the spinning speed being so much higher that it threw it out of kilter. You get much better performance when pedalling in a low gear on the snap but in my opinion it doesn't feel as "road like"0
