About to give up on using bkool, the new simulator is not working. Can't do swift on my tablet apparently. Have seen virtual training.com and just took up the 14 day free trial. Anyone with experience of this? It looks similar to bkool (videos etc) which I enjoyed when it worked in the older version.

  • Do you mean Zwift? And is your tablet an iPad?

    Nope. I've found,an app called virtual training.com.
Looks like it's linked to cycleOps who make turbos but says it will work on all smart trainers. I've got a bkool smart trainer and been running it off a Tesco hudl2 (linked to Samsung phone) and recently an Acer tablet instead. Can't download zwift to either tablet. Doesn't want to know on my hudl and won't download to the Acer (it says it is only 32 bit but needs 64 bit to set up)
  • I have been using virtual training and really like it. I'm not been able to go out all year due to some form of arthritis (reactive or psoriatic), which has badly affected my right hand and feet.

I got a Tacx Neo recently and tried a few apps on the iPad. Virtual training is best for what I want, which is to simulate riding routes and watching either videos or following them on google maps. So far I have re-"ridden" a few routes that I have previously done - the effort is very similar to the actual ride and average speeds are very close when it uploads to Strava. I find following the route in Google maps with satellite view zoomed pretty engaging, to the extent that I rarely focus on the videos or Eurosport when I have it playing on a screen behind the iPad.

I've now created a number of routes in areas that I haven't ridden before and will start "riding" those, from DC Rainmaker's app review I see that I can follow routes in Google Earth 3d on a desktop PC, so I am going to borrow the wife's laptop and try that out.

Its obviously a case of whatever rocks your boat and keeps you motivated, but having used an old Tacx Vortex and trainer road all year, the Neo and Virtual Training have really lifted my enthusiasm.

However, I haven't used any of the other routes with videos yet, or their workouts (which look a bit like trainer road).
