Hi guys. I have just a simple question. Is there any option to get 10 speed cassette with 10T ring? Big ring can be 34/36/38/40, no matters, I just want the 10T ring at it. Thanks for attention, waiting for your reply

  • No, not that I know of. I don't understand why you specifically want a 10T though when you say the front ring doesn't matter?
  • i dont think he said/meant front/chainring size doesn't matter, i think he meant it more of the largest cog of the 10 speed cassette matters not so long as its got a 10t as its smallest.

i could be wrong here ( new to bike parts - all my recent bikes have been complete & new meaning so far i have not needed any spares etc ) but i seem to think a normal freehub cassette can only go to 11 in the smallest cog, to go lower you need a different freehub & cassette ( like the SRAM XD system ) to allow the smaller cog etc.

happy to hear i am wrong if i am though :)
  • Ah ok, that makes more sense. It was the use of ring rather than sprocket!

You're correct, an XD driver (or the short freehub from One-Up) is needed to run a 10T and both are 11 speed.
  • only know of the XD system as one of my bikes ( hopefully 2 sometime next year ) has it in 11 speed ( 10-42t ) & i am scared of using the beast since i looked at the price of the bits for it lol
  • I could rant on about the company that came up with the XD driver but I won't... ;) still about £75 for the cheapest cassette I think? I'll stick with 10 speed SLX at around £26.
  • i know, cheapest i saw a cassette for at the time i got mine was £97 & i nearly died of shock at the rear mech cost, not looked at any prices since for any of my bikes lol

must be a gluten for punishment though as my probable next purchase will be armed with the XD system & its wallet punishing prices in future.

the freehub that we are used to e.g. shimano cannot take a sprocket with less than 11t, the xd driver was designed for 10t.

why do you insist on having 10t? just increase the number of teeth on chainring to compensate.... or pedal faster,

Why do you want a 10t! Just go bigger at the front and on the biggest sprocket!
