working from home, so I can pick up the new chainsaw :)

Already got the log burner going to dry the paint & keep the decorator happy. I was hoping he would have finished today, but it's not looking hopeful

    Later is the pub :)

Chainsawing is hard work. I gave it a go 17 years ago and after a few hours with little to show for my efforts I decided to pay for my logs.

But it gave me great pleasure in using an axe to make kindling and there were always a few faces getting the good news when I started chopping.

Two tenders to sought today, a decent glass of whisky tonight watching a The Shield.

A decent night's sleep as the nurofen seemed to work, but thinking about Spinners wise words yesterday I may give them a break despite what it says on the packet.

Now working from home and drinking coffee while a couple of blokes with chainsaws deforest the garden. (Awaits indignant response from people with too much time on their hands). Tomorrow is athe trip to the frozen North.

  • I'm on my second chainsaw, the first was a CSO from china, reccomended by our local tool company as it worked on a discontinued Stihl design.

Spare parts??? WTF are those was the answer.

Now I have a genuine Stihl and it cuts like the preverbial hot knife.

Which reminds me, I'm way behind in wood production, again...

    Morning folks,
In the office today so a little more slacking and less looking at XL. A visit to the finest eatery in these environs for lunch, the cafe as it's otherwise known. Seem to have picked up a dose of man flu, coughing up lumps of green stuff and nose running like a tap.
Take paracetemol Stevo, or if it's bad paracetemol and codeine, and breathe deeply. Like Piña said, don't sneeze. That hurts and put me in hospital for a week when I did it, but that was three ribs that were completely snapped.

I have a Stihl extended hedge cutter - it's brilliant. I had a very old Stihl chainsaw which eventually died. Someone offered me a Mcculloch very very cheap and I took it seen as I didn't intend to use it much. Then after the woodburner was fitted, I started using it more but it was carp.
So I then got a second hand Komatsu 450 with no bar and chain and fitted an Oregon combo. It's a brilliant thing but unfortunately, it's now on it's last legs - bought in 2009 second hand, used and abused. The volume the woodburner consumes, I gave up trying to keep up with demand . I would like to replace it with another Komatsu. I think they are as good as the Stihls but not quite so pricey.
Husqies are shyte nowadays. They used to be good.

Me trying to recover me. 2nd coffee and croissants just been consumed. I think pedalling is going to be of the soft indoor variety today.

    Laters.

Glorious day though, official start of the pool season here at Spinner Manor... fresh, but refreshing under the 31 deg C sunshine. 8)

It's nearly the weekend, so i may drop the painkillers and just go for alcohol instead :)

    T'noon,

Day off so cracked on finishing my work bench racks up tools hung just odds an ends to do. filled the estate with crap from the garage so much more space in there.

This talk of man tools reminds me as im hopefully moving soon im having a workshop thatll have a small pot belly wood burner in there. Worth investing in a proper chain saw? Or just stick with a big old axe?

Make sure you just chop the wood and not legs and arms. Have you got some kind of safety system worked out you always stick to?

I have a Stihl extended hedge trimmer. Weighs a bloody ton, the adjustable head isn't long enough to cut the top of any but narrow hedges, wherever you adjust the harness it doesn't seem to balance the weight of the trimmer. Waste of money. Give me a light trimmer and a stepladder any day.

If you cock it up it hurts less after the pub.

If you can't find a friendly joiner and take away his off cuts. It's handy for old pallets but they burn quickly. Where are you going to source your wood?

    Meh!

Whole weekend on-call. No booze allowed until Monday night.
Cycling limited to a 1 mile radius lap around the house so that I can be at work within 30 minutes if called.

Roll on Monday, or 100 miles, whichever comes sooner.

Is there that high a demand to have the blocked toilets at McDonalds cleared?
