With a budget of around £100 can anyone recommend a road helmet ??

Been looking at Kask Mojito and a Giant Rev but so many types to choose from I've got brain ache

My specialised Align is showing it's age now and I would like a new helmet for Christmas

Thanks in advance

My personal view is that they all look ugly but some are less ugly than others and some will look better on your particular bonce than others. Suggest you go into a store and try a few on. Sort out a couple that you like and then ask people on BR for opinions on how well ventilated they seem to be. As I say, IMHO they are mostly ugly so if you're going to buy one, you might as well get an ugly but well vented one. FWIW, I use a Specialized S-Works Prevail - very light and well vented and I forget it's there after a while . If on offer they can sometimes be had within budget BUT they can also look like a giant mushroom on top of your head.

That is the best advice that you will get.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

go to shop ...... stand in front of mirror ..... put all the helmets on one after the other ..... choose the one that looks the least ridiculous and feels comfortable, although these days they all feel comfortable to me

Get one that fits. You can't see it when it's on. If your Specialized fits well, that is a good place to start.

Just gone through the same process. Go to decent LBS and try them on. I settled for a Mojito as it fitted well, was comfortable and did not make me look like a piece of fungus. I was also looking for one that had less exposed grey foam as my current Giro picks up dents too easily.

If you can find a shop, or more likely a warehouse, with the full Catlike range you'll notice that some like the Whisper are quite narrow fitting and others like the Mixino are more rounded. They're my choice every time (Catlike FTW) :D

Lazer Genesis, Helium or possibly Z1 if you are lucky with the sales.

Crc, stock the helium at below half price, AND have free returns, so absolutely no risk, and you get to take your time in the comfort of your own home.

Lucky I took this same approach with a Kask helmet, or I may have not realised it's design clashed with the arms on my Oakleys.

I used to be a Rudy Project fan, but am now a Lazer fanboy, having 4 of their helmets, or maybe 5.
The fitting mechanism gives no hotspots, and for me at least, and a fair few reviewers, gives less of a mushroom head effect.

Try them. Don't assume one make will always fit: I used to have a specialized, tried a new one and hated it. Tried on various types, some were OK, some just all wrong. Got a Mask Mojito in the end, a little warm but otherwise OK.

It's just a hill. Get over it.
