No obscure thread titles today :)

Bit tired and partly deaf after going to see see the Buzzcocks play last night. Worth the trip up to Cambridge though. Now trying to power myself through the office day with coffee and delegation :P

Sounds more exciting that my evening, I went to sleep on the sofa at 9pm...

I've shifted my site visits to Monday so I can get some office work done and get out early today, we are away up to Pitlochry for the weekend with a friend and his family. They have religious beliefs which prevent them from drinking alcohol, I'm taking my bike for when I instantly get bored of fussing over their baby...

Back home today :( sure the traffic will be easy!

If we are back at a reasonable time I might start the prep to finish off the bathroom. Would rather be on my bike testing my new rapha pouch :)

    Later is Friday pub night

that sounds nice, at 9pm I was wiping blood off all the new furniture where I had been bleeding over it for the last 10 mins without realising !

I think I could slip out all day completely unnoticed given the fuss they make, the only disadvantage is that I can't moderate the GF's time spend with said baby which could have disastrous longterm consequences for my future cycling freedom/funds...

I'm sure there is a good joke about feminine hygiene products here but I would hate to lower the tone...

    Morning all,
So one tourist leaves the big smoke and another is inbound. Fat daddy is in trouble when his Mrs finds out he's been leaking on the new furniture and HayD is going to spend the weekend on his bike avoiding helicopter parents and the discussion that will inevitably follow spending time around a couple with a young baby. Worst of all he'll have to do all that sober.
I'm in the office for the day catching up on stuff as there are a few customers I haven't managed to upset for some time now. A couple of temps are leaving today, this is unfortunate as they are very pleasing to the eye as well as actually being good at the job. I'd rather keep them and lose a couple of permanent staff. Cafe later for consumption of pork based products, mmmm.

That reminded me to ask about builders around Hounslow. The guy that might know someone is off, the others laughed and said no chance.

End of another week in limbo. Have had applications in for two (decent) jobs, for almost 3 weeks now. One has at least progressed to the point where the client *may* consider an interview, if their HR person ever turns up to work again. The other has not returned anyone's phone calls or email messages in the last 2 weeks, not just mine. To make matters more fun, I was called yesterday and asked if I would be available to do some urgent work for a short period starting Monday. Sure. Today they ring back and postpone because it seems they forgot to get budget approved *before* giving me a call. Again.

Company HR departments and recruiting agencies can all burn in hell for all I care. If anyone has ever figured out what value they add to anything, let me know, 'coz I sure have no evidence to suggest their use of oxygen is justified. :x (Apologies Pinno)

IN other news: imminent bike sales, except I can't bring myself to do it. There's really no point in having a considerable fortune's worth of hardware sitting in the shed getting covered in sawdust. For the amount and type of riding I can manage lately a BSO would be overkill, let alone a 7 grand ultra-light carbon XC race machine, or a titanium hardtail for that matter. But selling them just feels like giving in.

Family visiting next week. Better stock up on wine and earplugs. House jobs continuing, going well, if slowly.

Having picked up keys to new pub yesterday I spent hours ripping up carpet and dismantling bits of bar. Bit of a lie in followed by coffee and a trip to decathlon as an off today so I have spent 3 hours menu planning and am going to do some beer tasting later to select craft beer.

    No offence taken:

    The rhetoric:

Maximise your organisations potential, versatility, ability to change and secure your future by managing and training your personnel as well as using the right recruitment methods whilst rewarding and encouraging a culture conducive to that end.

    The reality:

Change the name on the door from 'Personnel' to 'Human Resources' and carry on doing what you've been doing since the beginning of the industrial revolution and occasionally adopting something that worked somewhere because it looks like a good idea and in the process pi$$ everybody off.

Me worked a little me (update in PPP). Came home. Ate lunch. Slept. Pedalled. Ate dinner. Sat on couch. Switched laptop on.

    I'm peckish.

    Welcome back Flan. Moved yet?

    Laters.

You will have to ask at each pub you go into. Will give you a clue though: it is closed at the moment.
